THE STEEL REMAINS by Richard Morgan First chapter down, and I am actually kind of intrigued. Morgan is apparently best known for writing very gritty, fast-paced science fiction, and does it ever show. Richard Morgan – The Steel Remains. Hype has a funny way of raising one's expectations to an unattainable plateau. Fortunately I had downloaded a couple of books to my kindle before I left[2] so I had plenty to occupy me, and first on my list was the Richard Morgan series The Steel Remains and The Cold Commands. Prose is a little on the long-winded-sentences side, but the apparent protagonist - Ringil - is pretty fascinating so far. Tokyo Steel announced on 22nd to keep the steel material selling price for November contracts (for distributors) excepting square steel pipe. It is the first book in a series that is now to be called A Land Fit for Heroes. While he achieves only to a mild degree, on the way he does manage to spin an enticing tale along the way. Richard K Morgan makes a jump from science fiction to fantasy, and does so with brutal, coruscating style. Morgan's first book, Altered Carbon, hit the shelves, both readers and reviewers went nuts.
